About the DJ
My name is Constantine Ptohos, aka DJ Kahn.
I grew up appreciating and listening to many different styles of music, including hip-hop, classic rock, opera, soul, grunge, punk, and much more. My early love of hip-hop (and specifically Herbie Hancock's "Rocket") sparked an interest in scratching records, much to the dismay of my parents, whose records were the victims of my experimentation.
I was hooked.
DJing in New York since 2003, I have hauled my records and gear all over the five boroughs and played a variety of venues such as Galapagos Art Space, Williamsburg Hall of Music, the Hudson Theater on Broadway, The Bitter End - even Grand Central Station, to name just a few. I have performed not only as a DJ but also with bands as an accompanying turntablist and percussionist.
A few years ago, with the help of a friend already in the business, I began DJing private events, including weddings. Since that time it has become the main focus of my career, and after more than 250 events I still feel passionate about - and proud of - every one.
I don't use lighting or fog or hype. I use 500GB of music, your unique and specific requests, and years of experience with everything from bhangra, hardcore, and hip-hop to swing, hair metal, and northern soul - and everything in between.
And there is no chatter, no hype, no vocal encouragements for Grandma to put on her dancin' shoes. Just music, mixed live and according to your unique tastes.
I will work with you to not only determine the music for the evening, but also an effective flow for the series of important moments that will be your event. We will work together to establish your goals for the evening, and as your event's DJ and emcee, I will work doggedly to fulfill your vision.
Finally, because my price quotes are determined almost exclusively by travel-time, I am able to provide music for your reception, ceremony, and cocktail hour for one all-inclusive price.
I am currently booking for 2013 and 2014.
